This has come and gone. A great week exploring the town and mountain was had by all

This is a very Japanese town and lovely ski area and the snow and weather at that time of the year is usually excellent. On the main Japanese island [Honshu] makes travel easy, a flight to Tokyo being a good point to start. You may want to add a few days pre or post conference to explore this exciting city. An alternative would be to fly to Osaka and visit places such Kyoto, Hiroshima and Matsumoto castle on the way, so many options.

It’s not easy to arrange a Nozawa conference as there are no large corporate hotels there I have done a lot of groundwork for this with my Japanese speaking daughter and have 3 hotels, all in close proximity, fully booked including a brand new apartment style hotel. I’ll have room options from well priced traditional Japanese style rooms to very nice apartments in the mix for this one.  Two hotels I’ve got have their own onsens and one even has some ensuite rooms with a private onsen tub on the balcony.

We are in a very nice part of town, a few minutes walk to an access ski lift and easy 5 minute walk to the centre of the town.

Nozawa is much more than a ski village, it has a long history and is thought to have been founded by a Buddhist monk in 724 but occupation goes back much longer. It has been recorded as a popular tourist attraction as far back as 1250AD and has a thriving farming culture. It’s full of little hole in the wall restaurants and has some lively bars.

The ski area has an excellent lift structure with two large gondolas and lots of fast chairs and nice varied terrain and about 1000m vertical. I will be packaging in lift tickets and a day trip to a surprise nearby resort to add a bit of variety and fun to the week. It's a great way to experience Japanese skiing.
